Do I need planning permission for a garden room?
Usually not. Most garden rooms sit within permitted development, which covers size, height and how close to the boundary it goes. If you do need planning permission we can support you through the process. However, it is the customer’s responsibility to ensure all permissions are in place before work commences.
Will a garden room be warm enough in winter?
Yes. Ours are insulated in the floor, walls and roof, fitted with an EPDM roof and full electrics, so they work as an office or a gym through the coldest months. Running costs are closer to a small bedroom than a conservatory.
How long will my garden be out of action?
It depends on the size of the job, but we give you a timescale at the quote. A patio is usually a few days. A full makeover can run to a few weeks. Once we start, we keep going until it is finished rather than disappearing onto another job.
Can the price go up once you have started?
Only if you change what you want, or if something genuinely unexpected turns up under the ground. If that happens you get a phone call and a price before we carry on. No surprises on the final invoice. We confirm everything in writing before commencing.
Timber or composite decking?
Composite costs more at the start and needs almost nothing doing to it afterwards, which suits most people. Timber is cheaper and looks lovely, but it wants cleaning and treating. We will talk you through both against your budget rather than pushing the dearer one.
Do you charge for a quote?
No. We come out, look at the garden, talk it through and send a written quote with the price broken down by stage. There is no charge and no pressure afterwards.
