Garden rooms in Newton Abbot

A proper room at the bottom of the garden

An extra room in your garden. A bespoke space designed and built by us. Gym, art room, play room, man or lady cave, it is up to you.

Garden rooms built for Newton Abbot gardens

Not delivered flat packed on a lorry. We handle the base, the build, the electrics and the finish, so you are not chasing three different trades.

On Newton Abbot clay the base is the thing to get right. Clay moves as it wets and dries, so a garden room needs a base that accounts for that rather than sitting on whatever is there.

Insulated for use through the year, rubberised roof, full electrics, guaranteed products.

What you get

  • Insulated floor, walls and roof, so it works in January as well as June
  • EPDM rubber roof, with a 20 year guarantee
  • Full electrics, with sockets and lighting where you actually want them
  • Built on a prepared base

Working in Newton Abbot

The ground

Newton Abbot sits in the Teign valley and a lot of it is heavy clay. Clay holds water, moves with the seasons and turns to soup in a wet winter. Drainage and a properly compacted sub base matter more here than almost anywhere else we work.

Getting to the garden

Most of the town has decent access, with driveways and side gates on the estates around Milber, Buckland and Highweek, so a digger can usually get round the back. Older terraced properties nearer the town centre can be tighter, and a few need material barrowing through. On the whole though it is rarely a hand carry only job, which keeps groundwork costs sensible.

The houses

A wider mix than most towns round here. Victorian terraces near the centre, large post war estates spreading out from them, and newer developments at Wolborough and Houghton Barton. On the new build plots the gardens are small and what is called topsoil is often a thin skim over compacted subsoil left behind by the groundworkers. That is worth knowing before you plan anything ambitious.
